Summer events ideas: The hottest flower trends

Lavender Green Flower’s predictions for what floral designs are going to be big at this summerโ€™s top events.

When it comes to choosing flowers for summer events, seasonality, venue style and occasion often play a big part in the decision process. But as an event organiser you also want to make sure your flower arrangements create serious wow factor. With floral trends always developing weโ€™re giving our predictions for whatโ€™s going to be big at this summerโ€™s top events.

Statement vases

Vases are really starting to make a statement on their own now. Rather than subtle vases used to support the flower arrangement, we are seeing myriad of stunning shapes and colours used to elevate events tables โ€“ particularly plenty of French-inspired, hand-painted ceramic vases. As well as being filled with flowers, we are using decorative vases on their own to break up the arrangements on tables.

Wild & Unstructured Flowers

Wonderfully wild English meadows are the inspiration for all the gorgeous natural and romantic flower arrangements that youโ€™ll see popping up at all the most fashionable events this summer. Think relaxed, whimsical designs crafted out of locally-grown roses, peonies, cow parsley and grasses.

Multi-coloured flower arrangements

Colour-blocking was big last summer, but this year itโ€™s going to be all about a mix of lovely summery tones.ย  In the past, weโ€™ve seen a lot of singular colours used; corals, yellows and pinks but this year prepare to see the rainbow. For events by Lavender Green Flowers weโ€™ll be using the likes of bold and beautiful Delphiniums and Lupins to bring colour to our designs.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the top of our agenda at the moment and weโ€™re doing everything we can to be more mindful in every aspect of our floristry. We are starting to see our clients think similarly. Weโ€™ve been asked everything from using plants instead of flowers so they can be replanted or given to guests as leaving gifts, to being thoughtful with our flower choices to ensure they are sustainably sourced. Choosing seasonal stems that are grown-locally, switching from oasis foam to bio foam for our flower arrangements and donating bouquets to hospitals after events are just some of the ways that we are trying to lower our impact on the environment. By 2020 we aim to source all our plants and flowers from sustainable sources.
