Beautiful Floral Design Ideas for your Flower Girls

From flower crowns to matching bouquets, these floral ideas will ensure your flower girls look the part.

From flower crowns to matching bouquets and baskets of flowers these floral ideas will ensure your flower girls look the part.

For beautiful ways to include flowers at your wedding consider these ideas for your flower girls. A flower crown is a lovely hair accessory for younger flower girls, as is using a basket of flowers or petals, rather than a bouquet. For older flower girls you might like to use flower clips and a simplified version of your wedding bouquet. Whatever the age of your flower girls check out these floral ideas that they’ll absolutely adore.

Flower Crowns

We love this flower crown made from gypsophilia (baby’s breath). It’s a dainty plant that works well for smart or rustic weddings and is in season almost any time of year. The plant is small and has a soft texture so won’t irritate younger flower girls, while its versatile style means it won’t be too childish for older ones.

Flower crowns work for weddings at anytime of year, and if you’ve got flower girls who are reluctant to carry a bouquet they’re another way to bring flowers to their look.

Choose a flower that complements the rest of the arrangements in your wedding. If your wedding is filled with bright, summer flowers, then mirror this look in the crown. Colourful roses work particularly well. For a winter wedding, think about lots of greenery and foliage, with little berries to add colour.

Flower girl bouquets

Flower girls bouquets should be fairly small and not too fussy. You also want to think of the weight of the arrangement and how easy they are for the flower girls to carry. Using all of one variety of flower is a great way to inject colour into your wedding. You might like to consider using a different colour of the same flower variety for each flower girl. Equally, a miniature version of your bouquet could be the perfect choice.

Flower Wreaths or Baskets

Floral wreaths in pretty shapes may just coax any reluctant flower girls down the aisle. You can’t go wrong with heart-shaped, pictured below decorated with English roses and little wax flowers.

If heart-shaped wreaths aren’t your thing, then a basket filled with petals is eternally romantic and your flower girls will love flinging them on the aisle as they walk.
