Wedding Floristry Trends: Our Predictions For 2020

The wedding flowers our expert events florists will be creating for brides in 2020

Weโ€™ve barely waved goodbye to our last beautiful summer bride, but the wedding industry doesnโ€™t stand still even for a second. The average wedding takes 13-18 months to plan. So with that in mind our expert event florists are already thinking about the flowers for our bridal clients in 2020 and what trends weโ€™ll be creating at their weddings.

Informal
We expect to see the trend for wedding flowers to become more and more informal. Floral arrangements will be more relaxed and unstructured. This gives our florists an opportunity to have fun with the arrangements and give them texture and movement. In 2019 we saw a move from shabby, chic flower arrangements to neater, more linear design but that doesnโ€™t have to mean formal and in 2020 wedding flowers will be wild and flowing.

Natural
Brides are opting for more natural flower varieties at their weddings than they have in the past, this goes for the fragrance of the flowers as well as the floral varieties. Weโ€™ll be seeing lots of seasonal, unusual foliage, botanicals and leafy greens. Tall grasses and palms are becoming more popular for outdoor weddings too.

Bold Colours
Despite the trend for natural, brides are becoming more fearless with their wedding flower colour choices. Gone are the days of the traditional green and white flower arrangements. Last yearโ€™s Pantone colour was coral and weโ€™ve seen a lot of dusty, muted and burgundy flowers used at weddings. 2020โ€™s colours are expected to be even bolder โ€“ think hot pinks and fuchsias.

Dahlias
Dinner plate Dahlias are now almost as popular at weddings at Peonies! Theyโ€™re so English and the colours give flower arrangements real oomph! Dahlias also have a later flowering time than Peonies so arenโ€™t limited to late spring/summer weddings.
